Four people die, 46 wounded in bus accident along Pugu-Kisarawe road
KISARAWE: FOUR people, including a bus driver, have been killed and 46 others injured after a passenger bus overturned along the Pugu–Kisarawe road in Coast Region.
The accident occurred at Kinyanyiko area on Sunday when the bus with registration number T 177 DBV, was travelling from Vikumburu Village in Kisarawe District to Dar es Salaam.
Coast Regional Police Commander Salum Morcase confirmed the accident, saying the deceased included the bus driver, Salahe Mtumwa, a resident of Chanika, Dar es Salaam.
The other victims were identified as Mwika Gwesele, Fatuma Momba and Sivijui Bamatha, all residents of Dar es Salaam.
Commander Morcase said some of the injured passengers were treated at Kisarawe District Hospital and discharged, while seven others admitted for further treatment.
According to the RPR, the accident was caused by overspeeding while urging motorists to exercise greater caution and observe road safety regulations to prevent loss of lives.
