Four earn First Division League tickets

FOUR teams have successfully earned a promotion to the Women’s First League for the 2023/24 season, it was disclosed recently.

The teams are Gets Programme (Dodoma), Mwanga City Queens (Kigoma), Mpaju Queens (Mbeya) and Sayari Queens (Dar-es-salaam).

Gets Programme were promoted after winning the Women’s Regional Champions League final match  (1-0)  over Mwanga City at Nyamagana Stadium in Mwanza on Thursday.

The winner goal was netted by Eva Sady in the 48th minute.

Mpaju Queens finished in third place and moved up after beating Sayari Queens 1-0 with the only goal of the game scored by Martha Meja in the 35th minute.

Sayari Queens have earned promotion after finishing fourth.

Irene Chitanda from Gets Programme was named the top scorer for scoring 13 goals, the best player of the tournament was Beatrice Charles from Gets programme.

Habi Faida of Mwanga City emerged  the best goalkeeper of the competition and Chipuputa Queens of Mtwara were named most disciplined team.

On his side, Gets Programme’s Head Coach Aristides Given congratulated his team for earning promotion.

She said it was not an easy task but he thanked his team and football stakeholders in the Dodoma region for their financial and material support.

Mwanga City’s Head Coach Kashinde Mangapi, congratulated the players for reaching that stage and admitted that they have faced a difficult team with experienced players.

The league involved 19 teams which divided into four groups, with Group A comprising Mwanva FDC, Mandozi Princess, Singida Rising Stars, Mpaju Queens and Ifakara Home Queens.

Mwanga City Queens, Maendeleo Queens, Kilimanjaro Wonders, Mara Princess, and Chipuputa Queens were pooled in Group B.

Group C teams were Ilula FDC Queens, GETS Programme, Ziba Secondary, Raha Queens, and Young Star Queens. He added group D comprised four teams: Coastal Ladies, Sayari Queens, Njombe FDC Queens, and Shadow Girls.
