Fountain Gate triumph over Coastal Union

MANYARA: FOUNTAIN Gate won 3-2 against Coastal Union at the Tanzanite Kwara Stadium in Manyara on Friday.
This thrilling encounter saw both teams battle to the very last minute, with Fountain Gate securing all three points in a dramatic contest. With this win, Fountain Gate now sit comfortably at sixth with 20 points from 13 matches, while Coastal Union remain in ninth place with 16 points from 14 games.
The match began with a spark of brilliance from Fountain Gate, who took the lead in the 16th minute. Elie Mokono showcased his exceptional dribbling skills, weaving past defenders with ease before combining with Salum Kihimbwa in a seamless one-two.
Mokono, with a sharp burst of acceleration, unleashed a powerful strike from outside the penalty box, sending the ball past Coastal Union’s goalkeeper, Chuma Mgeni, into the back of the net. It was a moment of class that opened the scoring and set the tone for an action-packed game.
Coastal Union, not one to back down, fought back fiercely. Their resilience paid off in the dying moments of the first half when Lucas Kikoti stepped up to the spot in the 45th minute, calmly converting a penalty into the equalizer, sending the teams into the break at 1-1.
The second half was nothing short of thrilling. Within minutes of the restart, Fountain Gate took control once again. William Edgar found the net in the 47th minute.
But the drama didn’t stop there. In the 54th minute, Fountain Gate’s Nicholas Gyan converted a penalty with precision, extending their lead to 3-1 and leaving Coastal Union with a steep hill to climb.
Coastal Union, however, refused to surrender. With their backs against the wall, they pushed forward, and in the 79th minute, Maabad Maulid rose to the occasion, scoring a stunning goal to pull one back for his team.
The goal breathed new life into Coastal Union’s hopes, but despite their best efforts, they couldn’t find the equalizer, and Fountain Gate held on to secure a crucial 3-2 victory.
