Minister for Investment, Industry and Trade, Dr Ashatu Kijaji has tabled a 119bn/- budget proposal for the 2023/24 FY for her docket to accomplish various tasks including strengthening the capacity of industrial production and service delivery in the country.
Presenting the budget estimates for next financial year before the Parliamentarians in Dodoma on Thursday, she said out of the requested amount, 75.4bn/- is for recurrent and 43.5bn/- for the implementation of development projects.
Another areas of focus, according to Dr Ashantu, is the improvement of business environment, promote economic empowerment for citizens as well as promoting the private sector.
She added that the ministry will also coordinate business forums at national, regional and global as well as strengthening business and marketing.
However, Dr Kijaji said that from the period of July 2022 to March 2023, the Ministry registered a total of 240 new projects of which 89 projects are owned by locals while 94 others are under foreigners.
She added that 57 are owned in joint ventures between locals and foreigners.
She said over 4 million USD are expected to be injected into various projects to generate 39,245 jobs.
