First book auction in Tanzania starts tomorrow

The Big Bad Wolf Company will hold a book auction in Tanzania being the first African country for the event to take place aimed at promoting reading culture to Tanzanians.

The auction will be held for 10 days from September 8 to 18 at the Diamond Jubilee hall where there will be more than 500,000 copies of books from 15,000 great and global authors.

Speaking in Dar es  Salaam recent, Big Bad Wolf  Chief Executive  Officer (CEO), Andrew Yap said their mission is to promote the habit of reading books and build a generation of readers, that is why they have decided to set a discount of up to 80 per cent to give Tanzanians opportunity to get books.

“When we traveled for the first time to Africa, we saw that Tanzania is the right place. Our goal is that we want Tanzanians from various fields, whether young or old, to discover the joy of reading and gaining knowledge, regardless of income level,” said Yap.

And the co-founder of Big Bad Wolf, Mohamed Noor, said that their books are the ones that have been on market in recent years and they are educational books and stories written by authors from different countries with values for children.

“Since this is our first time to sell books in Tanzania, we will not have books written by Tanzanians, but when we come back for the second time, we will give a chance to Tanzanian authors to sell their books,” said Noor.

Big Bad Wolf that is based in Malaysia has already held 13 auctions in different countries including Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates and Tanzania will be the country of first in  Africa  continent.
