Expose students who have not joined schools, orders Lindi RC

LINDI District Commissioner Ms Zainabu Telack has called for a special operation aimed at exposing Form One students who have not reported in schools.

She said the operation should specifically target parents and guardians still holding their students at home and bring them to book. “We will go door to door with police and the mobile court.

Any parent who will be caught holding a Form One student at his or her home will be punished on the spot,” she said.

She asked the parents and guardians who have not taken their children eligible to start Form One studies to ensure their children report to school before the operation lands in their doors.

She issued a seven-day ultimatum for teachers to provide report on students who will not have reported to their schools by tomorrow.

The RC issued the directives following low turnout of Form One students. The RC visited Mikoma Secondary School in Kilwa District to inspect the number of Form One students who have reported to the school.

She expressed dissatisfaction with the small number of Form One students at the school, reiterating the need for concerned authorities to take stern measures and ensure all the students report to assigned schools as planned.

The RC directed ward executive officers to prepare special contracts that will ensure parents take their children to schools.

Briefing the RC on the number of Form One students who have reported, the Mikoma Secondary School Headteacher Mr Julius Peter said 76 out of 113 students have not reported to the school.
