Excitement as Nyegezi bus terminal almost ready

Mwanza City Council is excited with prospects of increased revenue from its projects as construction Nyegezi Bus Terminal is almost completed.

Acting Director of the Mwanza city, Mr Allan Said, told the `Daily News’ that the construction of the main bus stand has now reached 99.9 per cent and has already started operations.

Mr Said noted that the central government provided 15.8bn/- for the construction of the terminal, out of which 15.3bn/- has already been used on the project which started on February 5, 2019.

He said that the stand will have the capacity to accommodate 120 buses and 80 small cars at the same time as well as featuring 14 large shops, 60 small shops, three passenger lounges for 7,400 passengers, seven toilets with 63 holes, a bank, 38 ticket booths and a special area for breastfeeding women.

“We will make sure that we will give priority to all traders who were conducting their activities at the old bus stand to do business at the terminal,” he said.

In addition, he said the completion of the new stand will significantly increase income of the Mwanza city council, thus reducing dependence on the central government.

He also said that the presence of various projects, including strategic ones, in Mwanza will greatly help to open opportunities for businessmen as well as local and foreign investors to come and invest in the region.

Said asked the businessmen as well as other users of the stand to make good use of the infrastructure so that it lasts longer since the construction of the stand has consumed a lot of money until its completion…………..
