Envoy Kayola advises Tanzanians living  in Malawi to respect the host country’s laws

MZUZU: TANZANIA‘S Ambassador to Malawi,  Agnes Kayola, has urged Tanzanians living in Malawi to remain united, respect the host country’s laws and strengthen cooperation among themselves to safeguard the country’s image while unlocking economic opportunities.

Speaking during a strategic meeting with members of the Tanzanian community in Mzuzu, Ambassador Kayola conveyed greetings from President Samia Suluhu Hassan and commended the diaspora for living and working in accordance with Malawi’s laws, regulations and procedures, saying their conduct continues to promote Tanzania’s positive reputation abroad.

Additionally, the envoy encouraged the diaspora community to maintain peaceful relations with both fellow Tanzanians and Malawians to enable them to benefit from the opportunities available in the neighbouring country.

She stated that the government recognises the vital contribution of the diaspora to the country’s economy through investments, skills transfer and remittances, noting that their role supports the implementation of Tanzania’s Development Vision 2050, the Zanzibar Development Vision 2050 and the 2024 edition of the Foreign Policy.

To improve the welfare of Tanzanians living in Malawi, Ambassador Kayola urged community leaders to identify and mobilise all Tanzanians to join the association and actively register on the Diaspora Digital Hub (DDH) platform as it will help the government establish an accurate database and expand access to opportunities, including financial services, immigration support and investment.
