Entrepreneurs have been urged to register and certify their goods to participate actively in industrial production that will contribute to job creation and economic development.
“Certifying goods are fundamental steps that will help entrepreneurs contribute in promoting the country’s industrialisation agenda, to make the sector’s key contributor to economic growth,” the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) Deputy Inspector Mr Issa Dadi said recently during the 7th exhibition of the local industrial products at Saba Saba International Trade Fair Kilwa Road, in Dar es Salaam.
He also said goods certification is of paramount importance that helps entrepreneurs avoid business impediments especially when penetrating the East African markets.
He said during the exhibition they provided various services to the manufacturers and entrepreneurs who visited their pavilion such as educating them about the compliance procedures to certify the quality of the products.
In addition, Mr Dadi said they also provided knowledge to importers on the procedures needed for registering imported food and cosmetics products.
He also said that those who had failed to register their buildings and products sometimes back, through the exhibition, were given hand on the matter.
He further reminded the manufacturers to acknowledge that the law requires them to make product certification at TBS first before commencing production processes.
“TBS has the mandate to certify the standards of the products and provide a quality mark of standards,” he said.
Hu further added that he was pleased with the stakeholder’s and entrepreneurs’ attendance in the TBS pavilion.
“They have shown an interest that they need to learn about the procedures and many are convinced. TBS is expecting to receive more entrepreneurs to verify their products” he said
He went on to say that this will enable the bureau to fulfil the obligations of providing quality products to the Tanzanians.
