Engineers told to use materials with required standards

TANZANIA : TANZANIA Bureau of Standards (TBS) has challenged engineers to stand firm on using materials, which meet the required standard to sensitise more on the use of quality products.

TBS Marketing Manager Rhoda Mayugu said on Sunday during the engineering exhibitions in Dar es Salaam that engineers are the catalyst, when it comes to the uses of materials and the use of quality products will help in reducing low-quality goods in the country.

“I call upon the engineers to keep prioritising products that meet the required quality standard in your day-to-day activities,” said Ms Mayugu.

She added that engineers as one of the development stakeholders are also required to participate in numerous TBS activities including standard preparedness to be able to understand more.

Clarifying the ongoing promotion of free product verification, Ms Mayugu told the SMEs who attended the exhibition that the programme is still on and they are highly encouraged.

“As it was communicated earlier, product verification processes are still conducted with no charges from the SMEs…just come with the acknowledgment letter that you attended the training given by SIDO and the rest will be assured,” she said.
