Ekima organises women festival

Ekima Consultants has organised a one-day women’s festival aimed at empowering and motivating women to overcome the economic challenges faced after Covid-19 outbreak.

The festival is anticipated to attract some 200 women from across the country staged to take place in Dar es Salaam, next Friday.

The festival, according to organiser, is part of the commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women started last Friday to next Saturday.

Ekima Consultant Managing Director, Marion Elias, said the event carries a ‘Start Again’ slogan to symbolise better changes in women’s economic status ahead.

“We want to see permanent and profitable development that will enable women to develop themselves in all life aspects,” said Ms Elias on Wednesday.

The festival will have several topics to enable women recognising indicators of economic violence to take early precautions. Economic violence is any act or behaviour which causes economic harm to an individual. Economic violence can be property damage, restricting access to financial resources, education or the labour market and the like.

“We aim to solve the social-economic challenges that women face hence weakens their economic growth, including poor savings plans, lack of financial services such as banking and credit services, poor investment plans, poor distribution of resources and so forth,” she told reporters.

On top of that, the festival will involve various training on product innovations and creativity on promoting and marketing their products.

The Active Mama, Managing Director, Ms Ernestina Mwenda, said that the festival will also encourage women how to apply various skills to overcome the economic challenges after child delivery.

The festival is organised by Kilombero Sugar Company through Bwana Sukari brand, Azam Media, ‘Watu’ Konekt, Active Mama, The Marz, Renex, Life is Food, and Timeless Limited.
