EALA swears in Ambassador Kombo as its new member

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, has been sworn in as a Member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
The swearing-in ceremony took place today, March 16, 2026, during a special session of the Fifth Assembly of EALA held virtually.

Kombo took the oath of office as an ex officio member by virtue of his ministerial position, in line with the Assembly’s rules.
According to Rule 5(4) of the EALA Rules of Procedure, a member cannot take part in the proceedings of the Assembly without first taking an oath of allegiance to the Treaty for the Establishment of the East African Community.
