EAC, SADC leaders in Dar over DRC Conflict

DAR ES SALAAM: THE President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame, has arrived in Dar es Salaam to participate in the Joint Summit of Heads of State and Government of the East African Community (EAC) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The high-level meeting, taking place at the State House in Dar es Salaam, has brought together leaders from the two regional blocs to discuss and seek solutions to the security challenges in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Among the prominent leaders attending the summit is the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, Zambian President Hkainde Hichilema.

The host, President Samia Suluhu Hassan, is leading deliberations at the Kikwete Hall in State House, where discussions are centered on collaborative measures to enhance security and stability in the conflict-affected region.

The EAC and SADC leaders are expected to propose coordinated interventions aimed at de-escalating tensions, fostering diplomatic engagement, and strengthening peacekeeping efforts in eastern DRC.

The summit highlights the commitment of African nations to addressing regional security matters through dialogue and collective action.
As deliberations continue, the outcomes of this meeting are anticipated to shape the next steps in restoring peace and ensuring sustainable stability in the Great Lakes region.
