e-GA boosts agriculture digital transformation

DODOMA: DEPUTY Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Mr Athumani Kilundumya, praised the eGovernment Agency (e-GA) for strengthening its partnership with the agricultural sector to advance digital transformation.

Speaking during his visit to the e-GA pavilion at the Nanenane National Agricultural Exhibition in Dodoma, he noted e-GA’s progress in developing ICT systems that enhance efficiency, transparency and service delivery.

“I commend e-GA for initiatives like the Fertiliser Management System, developed with the Tanzania Fertiliser Regulatory Authority (TFRA),” he said.

This system enables registration and licensing of fertiliser distributors and sellers, identification of storage facilities and effective market regulation,” he stated.

Mr Kilundumya noted that the Fertiliser Management System has enabled the government to control fertiliser distribution and pricing under the subsidy programme, helping farmers access affordable inputs and boost productivity.

He added that e-GA has collaborated with other agricultural institutions, including the Cooperative Development Commission (CDC), which now uses a Cooperative Societies Management System and the National Irrigation Commission, operating a System for Monitoring Irrigation Projects.

“I am aware of the eKilimo System streamlining agriculture operations. I hope it will evolve to include detailed profiles of all farmers, especially unregistered smallholders in rural areas. I trust e-GA will take on this challenge,” he said.

Ms Subira Kaswaga, e-GA Communications Manager, thanked the Deputy PS for visiting their booth and affirmed the Agency’s commitment to acting on the suggestions.

She emphasised that e-GA leads in developing strategic digital solutions with agricultural stakeholders to drive inclusive transformation across urban and rural areas.
