Politician, Dr Wilbroad Slaa, has been stripped of his diplomatic status.
A statement issued by Director of Presidential Communications Ms Zuhura Yunus on Friday night states President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s decision to strip of Dr Slaa’s diplomatic status is effective from today, September 1, 2023.
On 23rd November, 2017, the fifth phrase President Dr John Magufuli appointed Dr Slaa as an ambassador.
After the appointment, he took the oath of office ready to represent the country in Stockholm, Sweden.
Prof Mahalu in 2007
Prof Costa Mahalu is another diplomat who was stripped of the title in 2007.
By then, Tanzania’s ambassador to Italy was facing a criminal case.
However, then President Magufuli reinstated the status of Prof Costa Mahalu as an Ambassador after being cleared by a court.
