Dr Samizi graces closing of cardiac medical camp in Arusha

ARUSHA: THE Deputy Minister for Health, Dr Florence Samizi, is today, January 9, 2026, has arrived in Arusha for an official working visit aimed at closing a special cardiac medical camp and assessing the strengthening and implementation of specialized and super-specialized cardiac services through the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute.
The visit is part of the government’s efforts to bring specialized health services closer to citizens, particularly those in the Northern Zone, in order to improve access to quality medical care and reduce long-distance patient referrals.
While in the region, Dr. Samizi held discussions with the Arusha Regional Commissioner, Amos Makalla, during which they extensively reviewed the significant investments made by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, in the health sector in Arusha Region. The discussions focused on the improvement of hospital infrastructure, availability of modern medical equipment, and the increase in health professionals.

Dr. Samizi noted that these investments have enhanced Arusha Region’s capacity to provide quality health services to both residents and visitors, while further strengthening its status as a key health services hub. She added that the improvements will also help meet healthcare demands during major events such as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, in which Arusha is expected to be among the key host locations.
The leaders also commended health sector workers in Arusha for their dedication and commitment to service delivery, emphasizing that their contribution is a crucial pillar in achieving the Government’s goal of improving healthcare services, strengthening referral systems, and positioning Arusha at an international level for healthcare services and medical tourism.
