Dr Samia visits  children and elderly centres with New Year gifts

DAR ES SALAAM:THE Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr Dorothy Gwajima, has represented the Tanzanian President, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, in presenting New Year 2026 gifts to elderly people and children through the Huruma Children’s Home and the Tushikamane Pamoja Foundation (TPF) Elderly Home, located in Ubungo Municipality, Dar es Salaam.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has given out New Year gifts to elderly people and children through the Huruma Children’s Home and the Tushikamane Pamoja Foundation (TPF) Elderly Home, located in Ubungo Municipality, Dar es Salaam.

The gifts were presented to the centers by the Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr Dorothy Gwajima on behalf of the President on Monday.

Speaking while handing over the gifts, the  Minister said her visit to the centres reflects the strong commitment of the government to ensuring the welfare, protection and development of children, the elderly and all special groups.

According to the minister, the centres represented all similar institutions across the country in the gift-giving exercise.

“I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that these end-of-year festive gifts I am presenting today are being delivered on behalf of the President, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan.

The President has great love for children and the elderly and continues to ensure your welfare and development. These gifts are a symbol of her love, hope, and confidence in you as the nation of today and tomorrow,” she said.

The Commissioner for Social Welfare, Dr Nandera Mhando, said the Ministry, in collaboration with Social Welfare Officers, will continue to visit and closely monitor children’s and elderly care centres in order to listen directly to their challenges and seek lasting solutions.

Meanwhile, the children and elderly residents of the centres expressed their gratitude to President of Samia Suluhu Hassan, as well as to the Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr Dorothy Gwajima, for the love and gifts they received.
