Dr Samia lifts the lid on Tanzania’s new constitution

MARA: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) presidential candidate, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, has pledged to address the issue of delivering a new constitution, stating that it is a demand voiced by many groups of Tanzanians.
Dr. Samia made the promise today, Friday, October 10, 2025, during a campaign rally held at Mwenge Grounds in Butiama District, Mara Region, as part of her ongoing efforts to garner support ahead of the upcoming General Election set for the end of this month.
She emphasized that CCM recognizes the importance of national unity and that completing the constitutional review process is a key part of achieving that goal, as outlined in the party’s 2025–2030 Election Manifesto.
“At different times we have attempted to address this issue, especially during the Fourth Phase Government, but the process was not completed. In this Sixth Phase, we are committed to moving it forward,” Dr. Samia stated.

During the rally, Dr. Samia also assured the people of Butiama that she will continue to uphold the legacy of the nation’s founders in safeguarding the leadership role of CCM, and that she is dedicated to leading with the broader interests of Tanzanians in mind.
“The Father of the Nation, Julius Kambarage Nyerere, said that without a strong CCM, our country will falter. We will not allow our nation to be destabilized under any pretext,” she affirmed.
This commitment is part of CCM’s broader agenda to strengthen good governance, ensure national cohesion, and promote democratic reforms through a strong constitutional foundation.
