Dr Samia hails the former Guinea-Bissau President’s attendance at Kizimkazi Festival

ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has thanked former Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embaló for travelling to Zanzibar to attend the Kizimkazi Festival, saying the participation of visitors from Tanzania and abroad adds value and prestige to the event.
President Samia made the remarks today, August 14, 2026, during the climax of the Kizimkazi Festival, where she also commended sponsors and various stakeholders for their contributions towards making the festival a success.
“We sincerely thank President Embaló for travelling and being here with us. I also thank the sponsors and everyone who contributed to making this festival a success,” President Samia said.
She said the continued support from sponsors and other stakeholders has played an important role in growing the festival and strengthening its ability to bring together people from different parts of the country and beyond.
The Kizimkazi Festival was officially opened on August 12, 2026, by Zanzibar President and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, Dr Hussein Mwinyi.
The participation of international leaders and guests continues to raise the profile of the festival, which has become an important platform for promoting culture, tourism and social and international relations.
