Dr Samia brightens her birthday with Mangifera tree planting

ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has planted a tree at the Bungi Kilimo area in Zanzibar as part of the commemoration of her birthday.

The tree, scientifically known as Mangifera indica and locally referred to as Mwembe Shomari, was planted earlier today, January 27, 2026, by the Head of State to celebrate her birthday.

The President decided to celebrate her birthday uniquely this year by coinciding with the 27 Green Campaign, which promotes greening the country as a way of protecting the environment through tree planting.

The President’s decision paved the way for various leaders, institutions, and other public figures to join her in the celebration by planting trees for the protection of the country’s environment.

Prime Minister, Mwigulu Nchemba, supported Dr Samia’s move by planting a tree in front of the Prime Minister’s Office at Mlimwa in the capital Dodoma.

The exercise is part of efforts to support President Samia following her patriotic decision to commemorate her birthday through practical actions aimed at environmental conservation.

Speaking after the tree planting exercise, the Prime Minister who was accompanied by his spouse, Neema Mwigulu, commended the Head of State for her leadership, noting that she has continued to demonstrate the qualities of a visionary, innovative leader who cares deeply about the broader interests of the nation.
