Dr Nchimbi envisions bigger projects as he inaugurates the VIP Terminal at JNIA

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian Vice President, Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, said that the government is fully committed to completing all development projects across the country, emphasizing that airports serve as the main gateway for visitors and represent the nation’s first impression, and therefore, their infrastructure must meet international standards.
Dr Nchimbi made the remarks today, January 16, 2026, during the inauguration of the VIP Terminal at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam.
He said that airports are among the key tools used to promote Tanzania internationally, noting that the modern buildings being constructed should be exemplary, attractive, and in line with international standards.

Furthermore, the Vice President directed airport authorities to closely supervise the use of the newly inaugurated VIP terminal, stressing the importance of preserving, properly maintaining, and consistently upholding its quality standards.
Dr Nchimbi said the Government continues to strengthen the transport sector, recognizing that efficiency and quality of services in this sector place Tanzania in a strong position for international commercial competitiveness, increase foreign exchange earnings, and contribute significantly to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Additionally, he noted that the Government will continue to improve infrastructure and services at airports, alongside strengthening road, railway, and maritime transport, to ensure that the transport sector remains a catalyst for economic and social development in the country.
