Dr Mwinyi lauds Kizimkazi Festival’s role in advancing Tanzanian culture, tourism, business

ZANZIBAR: ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Mwinyi has commended the Kizimkazi Festival for its key role in promoting and advancing culture, tourism and other economic activities in Tanzania.
Dr Mwinyi made the remarks today, August 14, 2026, during the closing ceremony of the Kizimkazi Festival 2026, held in Makunduchi, Zanzibar.
He said the vision behind establishing the festival has continued to produce positive results by helping preserve and celebrate cultural heritage, promote the tourism sector and stimulate economic activities.
Dr Mwinyi said the festival has also become an important platform for linking cultural activities with economic opportunities, while providing an avenue to promote Zanzibar and Tanzania to visitors from within and outside the country.
Separately, Dr Mwinyi commended the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her vision in initiating the idea of the Kizimkazi Festival.
He said the decision has continued to yield positive results, with the festival playing an increasingly significant role in promoting culture, tourism and economic activities in the country.
