Dr Kijaji hands over motorcycles to clerics with call to pray for peace and stability

KONDOA: THE Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism and Kondoa Member of Parliament, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, has handed over motorcycles to religious leaders to help them reach their congregants and other members of the communities they serve, while urging them to continue praying for peace and stability in Tanzania.

Kijaji handed over the motorcycles today, September 7, 2026, in Kondoa during a ceremony held alongside a special prayer session for the nation.

She said religious leaders and citizens have a responsibility to continue praying for the country to maintain peace and stability and to be protected from various disasters, including forecast El Niño rains.

Kijaji also stressed the importance of every citizen playing a role in safeguarding peace to ensure that people can benefit from various development projects being implemented by the government.

“I urge religious leaders and all citizens to continue praying for our nation so that it maintains peace and stability and is protected from various disasters. It is important for every citizen to play a role in protecting peace in our country so that everyone can benefit from development projects being implemented by the government,” Kijaji said.

Kijaji also thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for efforts to improve social services for residents of Kondoa, saying significant improvements had been made in key services, including the construction of hospitals and health centres, since President Samia took office.

She said the improvements had reduced the difficulties previously faced by Kondoa residents, who often had to travel long distances to access healthcare services.

Kijaji also urged residents of Kondoa to strengthen efforts to provide proper care and upbringing for children, stressing the need to protect and raise all children, including boys.

She said proper child upbringing was essential to building a strong nation with capable young people who uphold good moral values.

The minister further urged the religious leaders who received the motorcycles to use them for their intended purpose by reaching their congregants and continuing to provide guidance on wisdom, ethics and good conduct.

She also called on the religious leaders to encourage communities to educate their children, work hard and safeguard peace in the country.

Government officials and religious leaders in Kondoa thanked Kijaji for supporting religious leaders with the motorcycles, saying the vehicles would make it easier for them to reach and serve members of their communities.

They also commended her for her continued involvement in various development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Kondoa residents.
