Dr Bashiru lifts the lid on why Samia deserves another 5-year term
SINGIDA: THE retired Chama Cha Mapinduzi(CCM) Secretary General, Dr Bashiru Ally has said that Presidential Candidate Through the CCM platform, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan deserves another five-year- term because stood firm and managed to protect all strategic projects when the country was in a difficult period at the time of the sudden demise of the late president, John Magufuli.
Speaking at the CCM Campaigns in Singida City, Dr Bashiru, who is a politician and a political lecturer from the University of Dar es Salaam, has revealed a secret and unique testimony, which is difficult to find anywhere except for those who have had opportunities like the ones he has served.
According to Dr Bashiru, as the Secretary General of CCM and later the Principal Secretary General serving in sensitive sessions of the National Security Council, he has explained in detail how the calmness of mind, wisdom, ability and unique gift bestowed upon Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan enabled the country to overcome the difficult period of losing a sitting President, an event that is very rare in the world.
“This leader has a unique calmness, has unique courage and focus, these qualities alone are enough to give him the opportunity to continue leading the nation for another phase.
Dr Bashiru stressed that the country was in a very difficult time after the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the economies of all nations but Tanzania, under the leadership of Dr Samia, passed safely without being severely affected economically, unlike many nations.
” The economy grew by an average of 5.5 per cent, and in the first half of 2024 it increased further. Exports increased from 6.39bn US dollars in 2021 to$8.7bn US dollars in 2024, and GDP per capita increased, an achievement that is evidence of careful leadership.
He added, “During that difficult period, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan came to power and initiated major reforms that have changed the image of our nation.
He said that he has completed major strategic projects such as the JNHPP Power Project, the SGR Railway and the Magufuli Bridge, projects that have opened new pages of opportunities. Establishing other projects in important sectors such as agriculture, trade, investment, and infrastructure. For example, Tourism has restored many jobs that were lost during 2020.

“Most notably, he has developed sectors that touch daily life such as health where Tanzania has been internationally recognized for progress in maternal and child health, and won the Global Goalkeeper Award from the Gates Foundation in 2025), reconciliation politics, and national unity.
He said that this week Tanzania has risen to 78th place in the world in the measurement of government effectiveness for the year 2025 through the Chandler Good Government Index (CGGI) and explained that this is not by chance but is the result of the careful leadership of Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan.
