Don’t shy away from contesting during elections, Kinana tells youths 

DAR ES SALAAM: RULING party CCM’s Vice-Chairman (Mainland), Abdulrahman Kinana has urged the citizens, particularly the youth to come out in large numbers and contest for various positions in both local government election and general election.

However, he noted that the party will strictly endorse candidates on merits by evaluating their performance. The local government election is scheduled to be held in this year while the general election in set for next year.

“We will strictly endorse candidates basing on their competence so that they can bring solutions towards our citizens’s challenges,” Mr Kinana said during a special meeting to welcome the 1,167 new members of higher learning institutions senate held in Dar es Salaam.

The new members came from Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT), College of Business Education (CBE), Institute of Finance Management (IFM) and Institute of Adult Education (IAE).

Mr Kinana said that the party depends on youth’s ideas for advice, making arguments and constructive criticism, because they are modern people, educated and they go with the speed of access to information especially through social media platforms.

“You have a great ability to advise us, build us up and criticise us constructively, we rely on you a lot, give us your ideas. This year, we have local government elections, I urge you to come forward and contest in all positions,” he said.

He said that there are factors that contribute to the winning of the election, including the effective implementation of the CCM election manifesto. He also urged youths to choose capable leaders during the coming elections.

Mr Kinana also pledged to provide computers, printing machines and for the youth to be independent in their senate.

On his part, Dar es Salaam Region CCM’s Chairman, Mr Abbas Mtemvu said party’s regional office will contribute 2m/- to the youths’ fund that will help to buy various equipment for them to be independent.

The Deputy Speaker of National Assembly and Member of Parliament representing Ilala constituency, Mr Mussa Azzan Zungu said that CCM has got more than 1,000 new educated members and the party expect that they will speak about the good things implemented by the government under the leadership of President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan.

“Don’t be bullied and don’t be deceived by those who don’t wish well for our party and our country,” he said.
