DODOMA : Region has achieved impressive academic success, ranking fourth among 26 regions in the 2024 Standard Seven National Examinations with a pass rate of 87.89 per cent.
Assistant Administrative Secretary for Education and Vocational Training, Mr Vincent Kayombo, noted that the region also excelled in the National Standard Four Assessment, securing third place nationally with a 94.6 per cent pass rate.
“In secondary education, we have also seen improvements. The percentage of students achieving Division One to Three in Form Two and Form Four exams has risen from 30 per cent in 2023 to 30.7 per cent in 2024,” he stated.
Speaking at a recent training session for English and Mathematics teachers in Kondoa District, Mr Kayombo em phasised the need for further improvement despite the region’s strong performance.
“Through our assessment, we identified challenges, particularly in English and Mathematics. I commend the Shule Bora project for organising this training to address these gaps,” he said.
He urged teachers to take full advantage of the training, highlighting its benefits for their schools and the region at large.
He also directed District Education Officers to ensure that participating teachers share their newly acquired skills with colleagues.
“I have great confidence in our education officers. Their dedication will yield positive outcomes in this year’s national exams,” he added.
The Shule Bora project, launched in 2021 and running until 2027, is being implemented in nine regions—Dodoma, Mara, Pwani, Katavi, Tanga, Simiyu, Rukwa, Kigoma and Singida—with support from the UK government through UK Aid.
Training sessions are being conducted across all project re – gions, with Dodoma being the fourth to benefit after Tanga, Pwani and Kigoma.
