Dodoma RC urges residents to preserve water sources
DODOMA: DODOMA Regional Commissioner, Ms Rosemary Senyamule has called on residents of Busi Ward in Kondoa District Council to preserve existing water sources, warning that water supply continues to diminish amid rising demand.
The call came during a public meeting held recently at the Busi Ward Primary Court grounds, where residents voiced concerns over persistent water shortages in the area.
“We are being warned that the next major global war may be over water,” said Ms Senyamule.
“Unless we act now, by using water wisely, conserving our water sources and monitoring our consumption, we risk facing even greater challenges in the future. Our population is increasing every day, but the water supply remains the same. This is in your hands.”
Addressing the challenges facing the ward, Kondoa District RUWASA Manager, Engineer Loini Merinyo, pointed to the vandalism of water infrastructure, especially taps used to access water from storage tanks as a key problem.

He noted that the recurring vandalism have led to significant water losses and disruption in supply.
Earlier in the day, the Regional Commissioner visited Foe Primary School in Kalamba Ward, where a project to construct four teachers’ houses is nearing completion.
The project, funded by the Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) at a cost of 201.9m/-, aims to address the acute shortage of teacher housing at the school.
The school currently serves 402 pupils, 199 boys and 203 girls, with a teaching staff comprising five employed teachers and two volunteers.
While inspecting the project, Ms Senyamule reassured parents, teachers and students that both regional and district leadership are committed to ensuring the houses are completed on time.
“We are focused on improving education delivery across the region and teacher housing is a key part of that,” she said.
