Declining water level affects power supply in 14 regions

The Tanzania Electricity Supply Company (Tanesco) has announced a drop in power generation caused by declining water levels in hydropower in Mtera Dam, located midway between Iringa and Dodoma Regions.

According to a statement issued by the State-run power company on Tuesday, there will be power outages in 14 regions but assured the public that the technicians are working hard to stabilize power supply.

The regions set to be affected include Ruvuma, Mbeya, Mwanza, Iringa, Manyara, Singida and Geita.

Others are Arusha, Morogoro, Shinyanga, Njombe, Tanga, Coastal and Dar es Salaam.

“Our technicians are continuing with the efforts to ensure that power returns to the customers …we will notify you when the service stabilizes,” Tanesco said in the statement.
