DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA Head Coach Fadlu Davids praised his team for their narrow 1-0 victory over Singida Black Stars at CCM Liti Stadium over the weekend but stressed that more work is needed as the title race remains intense.
After the match, Coach Davids said, “Being at the top of the table doesn’t mean we’ve accomplished anything yet. The title is still up for grabs.” Simba’s victory was crucial for maintaining their momentum heading into the New Year.
The team now sits on 40 points after 15 matches, with 13 wins, one loss and one draw, finishing the first round of the league in first place.
Their rivals and defending champions, Young Africans, trail closely with 39 points from 15 matches after securing a 5-0 win against Fountain Gate yesterday at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam.
Singida Black Stars hold fourth place with 33 points after 16 matches, having won 10, drawn three and lost three games.
They are just three points behind third-placed Azam FC, leaving room for a potential rise if they can maintain their form in the second round.
However, Azam FC’s ambition to claim the title will make the race even more challenging. Despite the important away win, Davids highlighted areas for improvement in his squad and urged his players to remain focused.
“We need to improve in all departments,” he said, reflecting on the narrow victory. The coach underscored that striving for perfection is a continuous process in football, even though it is an ideal that can never be fully achieved.

“We have not yet achieved what we target; we have a long way to go. Perfection does not exist in football, but we always strive for it,” Davids added.
For the fans, this win serves as a perfect gift to celebrate the New Year, with Simba leading the league.
“It is good for the fans to celebrate the New Year in this position,” he acknowledged, appreciating the supporters’ unwavering loyalty
