Tanzania is ready to work with China to actively advance the implementation of the Global Development Initiative as well as the Global Security Initiative to deepen all-around cooperation.
This was said by Tanzania’s Foreign Minister Liberata Mulamula at the online reception celebrating the 73rd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China adding that the East African State is ready to work with China to carry over the Tanzania-Zambia railway (Tazara) spirit.
“Our two leaders; H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, and H.E. Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, reached a consensus to synergize the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) with Tanzania’s development strategies.
“In this regard, they agreed to expand cooperation in agriculture, in transport, in communications, in tourism and energy, to enrich the content of the Tanzania-China comprehensive and cooperative partnership,” the Minister said.
She said in the last 73 years, the Chinese people under the outstanding leadership of the Communist Party of China have achieved the prosperity and economic growth that we have all witnessed and admired.
She added: “It is impressive that more than 700 million people in China have shaken off poverty, accounting for over 70 percent of worldwide poverty reduction. This, indeed, is the greatest poverty reduction success in human history.
“Guided by the five principles of peaceful coexistence, China has deepened friendship and cooperation with other countries including Tanzania, and has made an important contribution to building a community with a shared future for mankind and advancing the noble cause of peace and development for humanity.”
Speaking at the event which was held virtually, China’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian said the Asian economic powerhouse entered a period of turbulence and transformation but the country managed to take on its responsibility in diplomacy and upheld the banner of peace, development, and cooperation.
The Diplomat said this year has witnessed proposing of the Global Security Initiative (GSI) by President Xi Jinping and promotion of the implementation of the Global Development Initiative (GDI) by President Xi in person, which aim at adding ‘two wings’ to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
“China continues to be the mainstay of the international anti-pandemic cooperation. By June this year, China has provided more than 2.2 billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines to over 120 countries and international organizations,” China Ambassador to Tanzania told the participants.
The Ambassador added that China has actively fulfilled its commitment to assisting Tanzania in the fight against COVID-19.
“Up to now, China has donated 5.61 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Tanzania. It is worth mentioning that China and Tanzania continue to understand and support each other on issues relating to each other’s core interests and major concerns, and work together to safeguard international fairness and justice,” she said.
