AT least 30,000 higher learning students are set to gather at the Uhuru Stadium today for a religious rally which will focus on moral conduct and encourage the youth to become God-fearing citizens while studying hard.
The Arch-Bishop of Dar es salaam diocese of the Catholic Church, Yuda Thadei Ruwai’ch is expected to grace the gathering which will also feature evangelical praises and worships. The event is organised by Tanzania Youth Catholic Society.
Event coordinator Mr Ronaldo Chota said: “The event named; ‘The night of praise’ aims at guiding students to properly use the freedom they have at the higher learning institutions. It also aims at discouraging negative behaviour, which includes careless sex and pornography, but that they should stick to God’s teachings, study hard and become good future leaders.”
Mr Chota elaborated that the youths from 51 Dar es Salaam based higher learning institutions will also meet experienced teachers and preachers who will guide them on cultural practices.
“The event will kick off from 3pm till dawn, where young people will also be guided to pray for peace and prosperity so that God can continue to bless this nation,” he said.
For his part, the Director of Laity Council of Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam, Fr Vitalis Kasembe, asked parents to allow their children to attend the event.
