Dar to host Climate Change conference in November
DAR ES SALAAM: Tanzania is expected to host a ground-breaking international conference titled “Building an Impact Economy on Nature-Based Solutions aimed at addressing various issues in relation to climate change.
According to information released by the coordinator of the event, Rahim Kangezi the one-day event will take place on November 16, 2023 at Hyatt Regency in Dar es Salaam under the patronage of the Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office (Union and Environment), Dr Selemani Jafo and the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Angellah Kairuki.
He added: “Tanzania boasts of abundant natural resources, including forests, land, and renewable energy sources that can be harnessed to combat climate change through locally tailored climate finance and carbon trading mechanisms.”
Mr Kangezi further said that the conference is an opportunity for Tanzania to showcase its dedication in formulating ecologically balanced solutions that ensure local economic resilience in the face of global climate change and biodiversity challenges.
“The event will bring onboard industry leaders and policymakers from Tanzania, across Africa, and the wider world in Dar es Salaam to strategize cooperative measures aimed at unlocking and advancing sustainable development opportunities in this vital sector,” he pointed out.
Equally, he said that international investors from South Korea, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Austria, the United States and the United Arab Emirates are expected to be at the event.
