Dar resident who defiled 2-year child, jailed 30 years

DAR ES SALAAM: SILVESTER Michael, a 42-year-old resident of Kurasini Shimo la Udongo in Temeke Municipality, Dar es Salaam, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being found guilty of defiling his two-year-old biological daughter.

The Temeke District Court issued the ruling after compelling evidence confirmed his crime. The incident occurred on March 22, 2024, at around 4:00 am, when the child’s mother had left home, leaving the child asleep in the room with her father.

It was revealed that the accused took advantage of this moment to commit the heinous act against his own daughter.

While delivering the judgment on February 28, 2025, Temeke District Court Magistrate Catherine Madili stated that the court was satisfied with the evidence presented by the prosecution, which proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the accused was guilty of the crime.

Due to the severity of the offense, the court imposed a harsh 30-year prison sentence as a deterrent to others and to demonstrate the judiciary’s firm stance against acts of violence against children.
