Dar RC seeks detailed reports on DMDP projects as he tables 992.6bn/- budget

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Dar es Salaam region is seeking approval for a 992.6bn/-budget it has tabled for the 2026/27 financial year to fund various development activities, including salaries for its public servants.

The budget was revealed today Mach 7, 2026, by the Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Albert Chalamila, during the Regional Consultative Committee (RCC) meeting in Dar es Salaam, where he thanked the committee members for their significant efforts in supervising and promoting development in the region.

He said the regional secretariat will compile and document all views and recommendations raised during the meeting to support the effective implementation of development plans.

During the session, Chalamila also stressed the importance of accelerating the registration of roads that are not yet included in the networks of Tanzania Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) and Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS).

He explained that incorporating these roads into the official regional road network will make it easier for them to receive funding for improvements in future fiscal years.

Furthermore, Mr Chalamila directed that within one week, detailed reports on the implementation of Dar es Salaam Metropolitan Development Project (DMDP) projects in each constituency should be prepared.

According to Chalamila, the reports should include the length of roads under construction, project budgets, contractors responsible for the works, funds already disbursed, and the percentage of project completion.

He added that the initiative aims to ensure that development is visible across all constituencies in Dar es Salaam, allowing citizens throughout the region to benefit from national resources.
