Dar decorates Gospel Music megastars Muhando, Nkone, Bukuku

DAR ES SALAAM: RENOWNED Tanzanian Gospel Music stars, Rose Muhando, Upendo Nkone, Madam Stella, and Bahati Bukuku have been decorated in recognition of their contributions to society through music and ministry.

Also honored at the event are pastors and their wives.

The awards were presented during a gospel-themed event organized by Dr. Christine Mbelwa, Director of PIMEA, to celebrate and recognize the efforts of influential women, particularly mothers, who have made significant impacts in their communities but often go unrecognized.

“This event was specifically designed to award honourary trophies to our mothers — women whose lives have touched the community in powerful ways. It’s about acknowledging their value and contribution,” said Dr. Mbelwa during the ceremony.

She emphasized the importance of honoring women who have remained steadfast in their service despite many challenges.

“Many women are doing great work, but these are exceptional role models who have endured years of hardship in ministry. As you know, serving in ministry comes with many trials. While some have bowed out due to pressure, these women stood firm and continued their calling, even in the absence of their husbands or under public scrutiny.”

Dr. Mbelwa added that the event should serve as an inspiration to younger generations, especially those who may struggle with pressure and resilience.

“Let this be an example for the upcoming generations who find it hard to handle pressure. These women persevered when their husbands were no longer around and continued to serve faithfully. Despite criticism and spiritual warfare, they never gave up.”

She further noted that the awards are not just symbolic, but also spiritual — recognizing the anointing and grace these women carry.

“This is about passing on that same grace and anointing to other women — encouraging them to walk in their divine calling.”

Dr. Mbelwa also revealed plans to make the awards an annual event, with intentions to expand it internationally and recognize outstanding women leaders from around the world.

“First and foremost, I awarded my biological mother — the one who gave birth to me and raised me with a spiritual foundation. Through her, I have gained many spiritual mothers.”

Among the recipients was the wife of Pastor Fernandisi, along with other distinguished women in ministry.
