“We join the family in mourning this loss, and all of us have a responsibility to pray and honor him by continuing the good work he did for this country,” the Prime Minister said.

Mr Majaliwa emphasized that the former Registrar was a dedicated public servant who performed his duties with professionalism, courage, and integrity, especially during the formative years of multi-party politics in Tanzania.

Former President Jakaya Kikwete also paid tribute, describing the late Tendwa as a man of high integrity, truthfulness, courage, and impartiality in carrying out his responsibilities.

“He made significant contributions to building multi-party democracy in the country. You cannot discuss the development of political parties in Tanzania without mentioning the late Tendwa,” said the fourth-phase President.

The current Registrar of Political Parties, Judge Francis Mutungi, noted that Tendwa’s passing was a loss not only to his family but also to everyone who valued his contributions to the nation’s political and democratic processes.

Justice Mutungi praised Tendwa for his visionary leadership and commitment to building a democratic system rooted in fairness and transparency.

Juma Ally Khatibu, Chairman of the Political Parties Council, also acknowledged Tendwa’s pivotal role in fostering national dialogue and political unity. He highlighted Tendwa’s efforts in maintaining respect, fairness, and solidarity among political parties in Tanzania.

Justice Tendwa served as the Registrar of Political Parties for 12 years, from May 2001 to August 2013.
