Samia mourns former political parties registrar

DAR ES SALAAM: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan on Tuesday sent a message of condolence to the Chief Justice of Tanzania, Professor Ibrahim Hamis Juma, the Registrar of Political Parties, Judge Francis Mutungi and the family following the death of former Registrar of Political Parties and Judge, John Tendwa.

Judge (rtd) Tendwa passed away on Tuesday at Muhimbili National Hospital, where he was receiving treatment. President Samia posted on her X account expressing sadness over the passing of the Judge (rtd) Tendwa.

“I have received with deep sorrow the news of the passing of the Retired Judge and former Registrar of Political Parties, John Tendwa. I extend my condolences to his family, the Chief Justice of Tanzania, Professor Ibrahim Hamis Juma, the Registrar of Political Parties, Judge Francis Mutungi, the esteemed judges, relatives, friends and all those affected,” said President Samia.

Judge Tendwa’s passing was confirmed by the current Registrar of Political Parties, Judge Francis Mutungi, who acknowledged the profound loss.

The announcement of his death was made public by the current Registrar of Political Parties, Judge Francis Mutungi, who expressed the gravity of the moment. Judge Tendwa’s contribution to Tanzania’s political and legal landscape is immeasurable.

He served as the Registrar of Political Parties from 2001 until his retirement in 2013. Appointed by the late Third Phase President Benjamin William Mkapa, Judge Tendwa’s leadership was instrumental in shaping the political framework of the country.
