Dar, Beijing to deepen investment cooperation

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening cooperation with China (PRC), particularly in exploring new opportunities for trade and investment.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, made the remarks during a reception to mark the 76th anniversary of the founding of China hosted by the Chinese Embassy at the Ambassador’s residence in Dar es Salaam.
The event brought together senior government and political leaders, members of the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organisations.
In his remarks, Minister Kombo commended China for the remarkable strides it has achieved in economic, scientific and technological development over the past 76 years.
He said that China has become both a role model and a vital development partner for Africa, particularly Tanzania.
According to Minister Kombo, the relationship between Tanzania and China is historic, built on the foundations of friendship, transparency, equality and mutual respect.
“We are pleased to see this partnership continue to grow through cooperation in international affairs and across various sectors, including tourism, trade and investment, the economy, education, agriculture, health and transport infrastructure.”
He said that Tanzania remains committed to continue working even more closely with China in identifying fresh opportunities for trade and investment, while also safeguarding the principles that have guided their nearly six-decade-long friendship.
“Tanzania is committed to deepening collaboration with China in identifying new opportunities for trade and investment,” he said.
On her part, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian, said that despite ongoing global political and economic challenges, China has remained resilient in advancing the prosperity of its people while contributing to global stability and progress.

She highlighted China’s strategies to strengthening international cooperation, including championing global equity and justice through initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative and the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), while addressing critical issues like climate change and conflict resolution.
Ambassador Chen also expressed gratitude to Tanzania for sustaining its enduring partnership with China, noting that more than 60 years of bilateral ties have been rooted in mutual respect and a shared commitment to development.
China celebrates the Chinese National Day on October 1st every year.
The celebration commemorates the founding of the People’s Republic of China, which was established on October 1st, 1949.
On that day, an official victory ceremony was organised in Tian’anmen Square, where Mao Zedong raised China’s first Communist national flag.
Presently, China’s National Day is celebrated over a one-week period. The 7-day holiday begins from October 1st and runs until the 7th and this period is called “Golden Week” in China.
