DAR ES SALAAM: THE government has confirmed that construction of a state-of-the-art 15,000-capacity arena in Kawe, Dar es Salaam, is in its final stages.

Once completed, the multi-purpose facility is expected to revolutionise the country’s entertainment and sports landscape, providing a world-class venue for major events.

“I have received numerous inquiries from artists regarding this project. Naseeb Abdul, popularly known as ‘Diamond Platnumz,’ has personally reminded me about it several times. Today, I want to assure him and all artists that the government has secured the necessary budget and the arena will soon be operational,” Msigwa stated.

The arena has been in the pipeline for several years, with delays primarily attributed to funding challenges.

However, significant strides have been made, thanks to President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts in securing financial resources.

Msigwa said that the government acquired concessional loan during President Samia’s visit to South Korea which played a crucial role in advancing the project.

“The first phase includes the completion of the arena itself, as well as the development of a Film Village, which will provide further opportunities for Tanzania’s creative industry,” he added.

Once operational, the arena is expected to attract international artists, sporting events and global audiences, solidifying Dar es Salaam’s reputation as a premier entertainment and sports hub in East Africa.

The government envisions the facility as a key driver for economic growth, creating job opportunities and boosting tourism.

This development marks a major milestone for Tanzania, underscoring its commitment to advancing sports, arts and entertainment infrastructure, according to Msigwa.
