CRDB Taifa Cup basketball to brighten Tanga
ALL is set as men and women’s teams head to Tanga for the 2022 CRDB National Basketball Championship whose shootout starts tomorrow.
According to the organisers, everything has been put in place for the players to showcase their basketball skills most often being scoring, dribbling and jumping for three points as well as taking rebounds.
CRDB Bank, the chief sponsor for three consecutive seasons, been onboard as the official sponsors of the Premier Basketball showpiece that draws top players from all regions.
And most importantly, the event is also aimed at scouting for young talent and gives it eight days to showcase innate skills. And since many of the players are enrolled in schools and colleges, CRDB has been awarding scholarships to those who excel in the event.
Apart from the teams, also in Dodoma for the event are officials of Tanzania Basketball Federation (TBF), umpires, supporters and CRDB crew members.
The teams in both men and women’s disciplines come from Kigoma, Pemba, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, Unguja, Mwanza and Dar es Salaam.
Other regions are Iringa, Mara, Mbeya, Mtwara, Arusha, Shinyanga, Lindi and Tabora. TBF, the country’s governing basketball body uses the event to select national teams that will represent the country in various regional and continental level competition.
