DAR ES SALAAM: CRDB Bank marked International Men’s Day on Tuesday by recognising the importance of positive male role models, reflecting on their contributions to society and promoting their well-being.
CRDB Vice-Chairperson Prof Neema Mori, said during the event that they discussed the bank’s commitment to gender equality and its efforts to support both men and women in its workforce and operations.
“We believe that gender equality is not just a matter of fairness but a foundation for sustainable development and institutional success. “While we work to empower women, it is equally vital to acknowledge and support men in playing transformative roles in our society. Positive male role models are critical in achieving shared growth and progress,” she said.
On Tuesday, the global community commemorated International Men’s Day, celebrated under the theme “Positive Male Role Models.” The Vice Chair commended the leadership of CRDB Group CEO Abdulmajid Nsekela, saying his recognition by Times Magazine as a Positive Role Model and his inclusion in the Top 25 African Finance Leaders by the African Leadership Magazine is testament to his exemplary character.

Mr Nsekela, reaffirmed the bank’s dedication to creating an environment that promotes inclusivity, equality, and the holistic wellbeing of its employees.
“Being a leader means not just managing an institution but nurturing the people within it. We celebrate the contributions of men who showcase empathy, integrity, and accountability, paving the way for collaborative and sustainable growth,” the CEO said.
The bank’s initiatives such as mentorship programmes and leadership training are aimed at empowering employees to become agents of positive change.
“This celebration is a reminder that leadership is not about power but about service, and I am proud to serve alongside a team that values these principles,” Mr Nsekela said.
CRDB Foundation Managing Director and Corporate Affairs Director, Tully Mwambapa said the bank has launched several initiatives to support its male employees, fostering their professional growth and well-being.
“The Men’s Day is not just about celebrating men but about creating a supportive environment where they can thrive as positive role models. “Through initiatives like mental health awareness sessions, mentorship programmes, and gender-inclusive policies, CRDB is setting a benchmark in empowering its male workforce,” she said.
Ms Mwambapa also said there is a need to inspire young men, noting that the bank’s HeForShe and SheForHe initiatives under the CRDB aim to nurture positive societal values.
