CRB pushes for timely power to 139 Manyara villages, this time

MANYARA: THE Chairman of the Contractors Registration Board (CRB), Eng Joseph Nyamhanga, has directed the contractor responsible for rural electrification projects in Manyara Region to expedite work and meet the scheduled completion date, ensuring residents receive timely access to electricity.
The project, executed by China Railway Construction Electrification Bureau Group Company Limited (CRCEBG), covers Babati, Simanjiro, and Kiteto districts. Eng. Nyamhanga issued the directive during a recent inspection tour by the CRB Board of Directors and Management across four northern regions Manyara, Arusha, Kilimanjaro and Tanga to assess the progress of projects by registered contractors.
Expressing satisfaction with the current progress, Eng Nyamhanga urged CRCEBG to accelerate work to align with the government’s goal of universal rural electrification.
The board is inspecting various projects handled by contractors registered with CRB, both local and international.
These include electrification, construction, and water projects. Additionally, we will inspect the oil pipeline project from Hoima, Uganda to Tanga.
Today, we are in Manyara Region, assessing an electrification project spanning 139 villages across Babati, Simanjiro and Kiteto districts,” said Eng Nyamhanga.
“We have observed the contractor making progress, but we urge them to expedite their work. According to our information, this project is scheduled for completion by November 2025. The contractor must ensure the timely completion of the project so that all 139 villages targeted by the government receive electricity services as planned”.
Moreover, Eng Nyamhanga called on all registered contractors to ensure their projects are completed within the stipulated time frame while maintaining the required standards. He emphasised the importance of timely project execution, quality adherence and budget discipline.

He also reaffirmed CRB’s commitment to continue monitoring contractor performance, noting that the board would take action against any contractor failing to meet their obligations, including project delays.
“We will continue overseeing contractors through CRB, ensuring that they comply with registration laws. If we receive reports from clients indicating that a contractor is failing to complete their work on time, the board will not hesitate to take the necessary measures,” he said.
Furthermore, Project supervisor Eng Michael Masimbani said that the electrification project is expected to bring power to 139 wards, with a total investment exceeding 21bn/-.
‘One of the beneficiaries of this project is Maisaka Hamlet, where poles have already been installed and wiring completed. The remaining task is the installation of transformers,” he said.
Moreover, the CRB Board and Management delegation visited and inspected the construction of the Ngorongoro Conservation Memorial Museum.
The project, valued at over 23bn/- is being implemented by China Railway 25 Group Ltd in Ngorongoro District.
Providing an update to CRB Board members, the Ngorongoro Conservation Authority Geologist, Mr Ramadhan Khatibu said that the museum is expected to be completed by May this year noting that once operational, it is anticipated to attract more tourists to the conservation area.
The CRB delegation also inspected a 48-kilometre water expansion project extending from the Ngorbob water tank in Arusha.
The project, being implemented by Jandu Plumbers Ltd in Nanja, Monduli District, aims to address water supply challenges for local residents and neighbouring villages.
Eng Nyamhanga urged the contractor to ensure the project is completed with the highest quality standards while adhering to the agreed costs as per the contract.
