CPC mourns scribe Sharon Sauwa

DODOMA: The Dodoma Press Club (CPC) has mourned Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) journalist Ms Sharon Sauwa, who passed away early Tuesday while receiving treatment at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking to the Daily News in Dodoma over Sharon’s demise, CPC Chairman Mr Mussa Yusuph said the club has lost a trainer and advisor to young journalists, especially female reporters.
He said the scribe’s vast experience in the field was highly needed as the country heads to the general election, stressing that: “We have lost her at a time when we needed her the most.”
Following the journalist’s death, Mr Yusuph said the CPC was expected to meet in the Capital City later today to plan how its members will participate in bidding farewell to the fallen scribe.

Mr Habel Chidawali who worked with Sharon at MCL’s Dodoma Bureau, described her as humble and obedient, noting that she never acted like a boss but as a co-worker in discharging her duties.
“When she was stationed in Dodoma, she was my boss, but we worked in a friendly environment where no one could notice who was superior. Later, when I became her boss, the same spirit continued,” he noted.
He recalled Sharon asking for permission to travel to Dar es Salaam for treatment.
On her part, Ms Anastazia Anyimike, a journalist with HabariLEO, described Sharon as a friend who loved others and a perfectionist in her undertakings.
“She always wanted her work to be perfect. She disliked laziness. She was very cooperative, taking her time to train and counsel others so that they could deliver quality work. We have truly lost someone important in the profession,” said Ms Anyimike, who was a close friend to Sharon.
According to Sharon’s family, she will be laid to rest on August 21, 2025, at Pugu Mwakenga Cemetery in Dar es Salaam.
