Court drops case against former CCK party leaders

THE Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court has dropped the case against former Secretary General of the opposition Political Party, Chama Cha Kijamii (CCK), Renatus Muabhi (53), and businessman Yusuph Yusuph (33), after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has expressed no intention to proceed with the case.

The two were facing charges over allegedly impersonating being operative of the anti-corruption agency.

The decision to withdraw the case was given by the Principal Resident Magistrate, Rhoda Ngimilanga, after the prosecution explained to the court that the DPP has no intention of proceeding with the charges against the accused, so they requested to withdraw the case.

The case was mentioned at the court by the State Attorney Adolf Verandumi who claimed that the DPP has no intention of continuing with the case.

Judge Ngimilanga said the accused have been acquitted and have been released by the court.

In the first charge, it is alleged that on December 24, 2021 at the Central Bank of Tanzania (BOT), located in Ilala District, the accused Muabhi, with malicious intent, introduced himself to Nguling’wa Balghe as an operative of the anti-corruption agency when he knew it was not true.

On the second charge, on July 10, 2021 in the BOT offices, the accused introduced themselves to Clay Apio as intelligence security officers, even though they knew by faking their identities, which is against the Law.
