Community Shield: Singida in Tanga for drill

SINGIDA Fountain Gate have earlier arrived in Tanga for the forthcoming Community Shield title battle, insisting they will have ample time for preparation.

The Singida-based giants invaded Tanga on Saturday evening with their full squad ready to compete in the newly established four-team community shield showdown.

“We are the first team to arrive here and this is so because we want to have enough time to prepare our team before the tournament begins,” said the team’s Information Officer Hussein Massanza.

Their recent match was a 2-1 victory in a friendly match with AS Vita at Liti Stadium in Singida.

On Thursday they play against Simba at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga and the winner will advance to the final.

The first last-four clashes will see holders Young Africans entertaining Azam on Wednesday at the same venue in a seemingly competitive match.

Other than fighting for the championship, the four sides will also be testing their arsenals for CAF Interclub Games scheduled to begin this month.

Yanga and Simba are envoys in the CAF Champions League. Similarly, Azam and Singida Fountain Gate will represent the nation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
