Committee calls for increased use of gas-powered vehicles to reduce costs

DAR ES SALAAM: The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Energy and Minerals has recommended that the government import more gas-powered vehicles to reduce running costs.
Committee chairperson David Mathayo made this suggestion on Friday during a visit to various gas stations in Dar es Salaam.
He emphasized the importance of workshops capable of selling the complete system of gas filling equipment in the country.
In response to the committee’s advice, Energy Deputy Minister Ms. Judith Kapinga stated that her docket has received the recommendations and added that plans are underway to add 15 more gas filling stations this year.
Additionally, Mussa Makame, the Director of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), announced that they are also planning to purchase five movable gas stations from this month to August this year.
Mr Makame further explained that the cooperation’s plan is to distribute the stations across different parts of the country to enhance smooth service delivery.
