COAST Region is set to vaccinate 263, 990 under five children in the third round polio vaccination campaign which kicked off countrywide on September 4, this year.
The Regional Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Gunini Kamba told reporters in Kibaha Town on Friday that all necessary preparations for the exercise were completed to allow it to be carried out smoothly.
“We are intending to reach out all children in all our districts in the region with the vaccine to protect them against the wild polio “, said Dr Kamba.
He further said the last vaccination exercise there were no major challenges from the parents.
According to Regional Vaccination Officer Mr Abbas Hincha a total of 263, 851 children equivalent to 131 percent were reached in the last exercise which was conducted in the region.
Mr Hincha pointed out that awareness campaigns regarding the vaccine have been successfully carried out across the region.
“We have conducted awareness sessions regarding the vaccine and the we are expecting that the exercise will turn out successful as the last one”, he noted.
