Coach hails Stars form vs Cranes

AFTER producing his first win at the helm of Taifa Stars, caretaker Head Coach Honour Janza has applauded his charges for playing as a team saying everything he saw was everything he wanted to see from them.

Stars defeated Uganda 1-0 in their first tri-nation international friendly match at Modern Stadium in Benghazi, Libya over the weekend with Simon Msuva scoring the winner for Stars.

Up next, Janza’s men face Libya tomorrow at the same venue to wind up their two away signal testing matches which falls under FIFA calendar.

“In the first half, we were tactically good…I think we were above Uganda as we organised ourselves well that is why they were not able to break us and we were able to push them in their own half.

“Due to this, we played much of our game in their half thereby scoring the winning goal. But, this was not easy, we need to appreciate players individually and as a team because everyone was putting in a good effort.

“We have seen good runs, good marking trying to press and close spaces. We were a bit quicker to release and circulate the ball which was also good and part of our philosophy,” Janza remarked.

He added that most of the things he wanted to see from his players were shown while insisting that the squad is gradually improving.

In the same token, Janza described Uganda as a good team saying they are physically present and that tactically, they can be able to dismantle their opponents.

“Generally, they are a good team and you have to prepare well to face them because they are not an easy side…they have got a character to the extent that they can force a win,” said Janza.

However, in tomorrow’s match, hosts Libya will be searching their first win after being held to a barren draw by Uganda during the opening game of the tri-nation showdown.

At the same time, Taifa Stars are eager to claim another victory in order to end their trip on high note as such, the game is set to be tense to either side.
