Clerics shower praise on Samia, advise traders

TANZANIA : RELIGIOUS leaders across the country have showered praise on President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her successful efforts to open up the country economically, calling for businesspersons to grab the opportunities.

The leaders had it that Dr Samia has made great strides in a way that avenues for successful business and investment are open within and outside the country for Tanzanians, adding that the would-be investors will have themselves to blame if they do not make break-through now.

Speaking with Kariakoo Market traders on behalf of his fellow leaders, the Chairperson of the National Committee of Bishops and Sheikhs on Ethics, Peace and Human Rights Bishop William Mwamalanga on Friday, he noted that what President Samia accomplished was unthinkable in the past.

Bishop Mwamalanga used Kariakoo Market forum to speak to traders who represented their counterparts countrywide, telling them that Dr Samia has worked hard and prolifically removed trade and investment barriers that denied natives prospects for a long time.

The Cleric noted that the Head of State has been committed to make sure that businesspersons get their due rights to make business without disruption in and outside the country, using well economic diplomacy instrument to attain the accomplishment.

“This is a huge leap forward in a very positive and for what Dr Samia accomplished she has to be commended immensely, because in the past the path was a real darkness. It is high time now that businesspersons and investors tap the opportunities that have emerged after President Samia opened up the country. Traders and investors should go out there for their benefits and that of the country,” said Bishop Mwamalanga.

He called upon the businesspersons and investors to use their associations and networks to trade as a group, using their instruments to reach out to others and work together, because with one voice they will win a lot of fortunes locally and internationally.

“It is your turn to join forces in terms of innovation, networking, technology but more so in capital raising in huge projects, such as agriculture, minerals and even in some of the many ports we have constructed along oceans and lakes God has endowed us with, instead of waiting the government to feed us,” insisted Bishop Mwamalanga.

He urged the businesspersons not to be coward, take heart and move forward bravely. He called upon them to be shrewd so as to take up huge percentage of projects.

“Is it true that we fail to do businesses like cleaning our cities and towns, engaging in activities like planting trees for environmental conservation as well as coming up with ideas of constructing fertiliser industries upcountry as well as develop ocean and lake beaches for business?” queried the outspoken Pentecostal Church Minister.

The bishop expressed joy that President Samia appointed brave and competent ministers and high commissioners who deal with areas of investment, industries and trade within and outside the country, asking them to issue lists of opportunities each month.

He also called upon religious leaders to use their positions and influence to convince people, especially the youth to engage in serious business and investment for their individual benefits and that of the country at large.
