- CCM chairperson accepts his resignation
DAR ES SALAAM: RULING CCM Chairperson President Samia Suluhu has accepted resignation of the party’s Secretary General, Daniel Chongolo.
The Ideology and Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Paul Makonda said in a statement that CCM chairperson had informed the party’s National Executive Committee that she had received Mr Chongolo’s resignation letter and had accepted.
“About party’s Secretary General, Daniel Chongolo, the CCM’s Chairperson, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan has informed the party’s National Executive Committee she had received his resignation letter and she accepted the request,” said Mr Makonda in the statement issued after the party’s National Executive Committee meeting at its sub-office in Dar es Salaam. Mr Chongolo was appointed into office by the party’s NEC in April, 2021.
Mr Makonda further said the party selected candidates to fill leadership positions in the regional and district level in Arusha, Mbeya and Mwanza regions and Unguja South and Mpanda districts.
For Arusha Region, the party had selected Dr Daniel Mirisho Pallangyo, Loy Thomas Sabaya, Solomon Olesendeka Kivuyo and Edna Israel Kivuyo to vie for regional leadership position out of 89 applicants. He said in Mbeya a total of 48 party members applied and three candidates were selected namely Felix Jackson Iyaniva, Patrick Adkin Mwalunenge and Fatuma Ismail Kasenga.
In Mwanza a total of 109 applied for the post and Michael Lushinge Masanja , Sabana Lushu Salinja, Dr Anjelina William Samike , Elizabeth Watson Nyingi and David Mayala Mulongo were selected to contest. At Mpanda District 36 party members had applied and four were chosen to contest.
They are Hamis Chande Soud, Joseph Aniseth Lwamba, Josephina Yusuph Baraga and Emmanuel David Manamba. In Unguja South District 15 party members has sent application and three members were chosen. They are Maryam Suleiman Haji, Ali Timamu Haji and Mohammed Haji Hassan.
Mr Makonda said the party’s NEC congratulated the Union government led by President Samia and the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar under Dr Hussein Ali Mwinyi for continuing executing CCM Election Manifesto of 2020-2025.
